Australia v Pakistan Second T20 Report Card
Featuring tradition, Benjamin Button innings and Quentin Quire cosplay
Tradition
Grade: C+
A frenetic start to the Australian innings saw Jake Frenetic-McGurk and Matt Start take 21 off the first over, 37 off the first two and reach their fifty from just nineteen balls. Perhaps they thought it was another seven-over match?
Rather than reason with these The Forty-Two fanboys, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan instead threw the ball to Haris Rauf. Rauf, in turn, caught that ball, walked to the top of his mark, ran in, and bowled the ball to Fraser-McGurk, dismissing him. Two balls later, he did the same to Josh Inglis.
Australia were 2/52 after four overs and it was time for Glenn Maxwell to, as per usual, make his way to the middle to bring some sanity to the batting.
“Let’s just bat normally and take as few risks as possible,” suggested Glenn. “No need to do anything silly.”
Sound advice from Australia’s titan of traditionalism.
