We rounded out this white ball series between Australia and Hayley Matthews with one final demonstration of just how seriously the West Indies were about being a one-woman team.
And the answer was very seriously indeed, with not a single run scored by any other West Indies batter while Matthews was at the crease. Across the first seven overs of the innings, Matthews scored 23 runs from 16 balls, while Kim Garth contributed three wides, a wicket and a leg bye off her bowling.
And that was it, with Zaida James and Rashada Williams remaining stubbornly scoreless at the other end.
Sadly, however, the first ball of the eighth over saw Williams break character and take a single. Disgusted, Matthews was trapped by Garth from the very next delivery.
That’s what you get for not committing to the bit, Rashada.
