The weekend ended with a showdown between the two undefeated teams in the tournament, India and New Zealand, to see who would be the first to become unundefeated.
New Zealand were under the most scrutiny. Now, that’s obviously untrue. India were - after all, they have more than a billion people analysing their every move. Hard to top that. But the match was to be a sterner test of New Zealand’s bona fides.
Yes, they were undefeated, but that record had been achieved by knocking off the tournament‘s smaller and weaker sides in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Netherlands and England.
India were something else.
