Monkey’s Paw Wickets
Grade: D
Hey, look at that! I’m awake for one of the women’s T20s. Good for me.
Australia were asked to bat first and agreed to do so on the condition that they could score 150 from their twenty overs. After some heated haggling back and forth between the captains, it was finally agreed that Australia would be permitted to reach 155 on the condition that top scorer Ellyse Perry would be dismissed in a classic monkey’s paw good news/bad news scenario.
That scenario?
Bad news: Ellyse Perry is out LBW
Good news: She’s reviewing the decision
Bad news: The first replay shows she’s very plumb in front
Good news: This can’t be confirmed because DRS is down
Bad news: This means the umpires stay with the original decision
Good news: But Australia don’t lose their review
Bad news: They only had 11 balls left anyway
