Australia arrived at The Oval on the third day, keen to wrap up the India first innings and mount an insurmountable lead. Scott Boland took a wicket with his second ball to set that plan in efficient motion. Pat Cummins then began roughing up Shardul Thakur, in a manner that looked for all the world like that scene at the end of Superman 2, where Supes teaches that random truck diner bully a valuable lesson by throwing him into a pinball machine. Ha ha ha! Take that, ya stupid bully!

In the case of Cummins, with no pinball machine in immediate proximity, that meant instead peppering the number eight with balls that struck him painfully on the hand and forearm. Get ready for a broken Thakur arm.
